EXPERIENCE & THEORETICAL APPROACH
I have experience working with adolescent and adult populations in a variety of mental health and educational settings as well as a variety of clinical levels of care from out-patient through partial hospitalization. For the past few years, I've worked at a local Eating Disorder treatment center, first with Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and then the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Prior to that, I worked at Seton Behavioral Health doing DBT programming for both teens and adults. I have an eclectic style and am greatly influenced by the work of Brené Brown and Marsha Linehan. I am extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and believe that hope and healing is possible--even when it does not seem that way. In addition to my DBT training, I practice mindfulness based therapies (such as ACT--Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and blend elements of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I specialize in working with folx with Eating Disorders, which often includes co-occurring diagnoses (such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, substance use disorder, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, etc). I also work with individuals struggling with substance use, self-harm, and suicidality. Another area of expertise is LGBTQ/gender and sexuality issues. I present on the intersection of LGBTQ issues and Eating Disorders, and enjoy working with folx who find themselves within this space. I believe that every client has a unique path, and needs therapy that will fit their journey.
